Cashier Position

As a cashier, you will be responsible for register transactions involving the sale and/or return of merchandise as well as:

• Projecting a positive representation of Bellingham Ace Hardware.
• Greeting customers entering and throughout the store. Thanking customers by name, when possible, when they are leaving the store.
• Projecting a friendly, outgoing demeanor; work well with customers as well as associates.
• Clearing customer checkout lines quickly and efficiently.
• Answering and monitoring all calls and pages promptly, courteously and effectively.
• Communicating any problem or issue that requires management assistance.
• Continually building product knowledge base and possess the ability to assist customers with store layout and product location.
• Assisting in pricing, stocking, marking and bagging of merchandise.
• Assisting with keeping impulse counters stocked and faced, rotate fresh merchandise in as seasons change.
• Keeping the front end, including checkout areas and entrance doors neat and clean at all times. Face and dust front end.
• Ensuring forms and supplies are stocked at all times.
• Calling for cart pickups when necessary.
• Informing management when merchandise returns need to be put away.
• Performing all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Helpful customer service skills
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to lift 50 pounds
• Previous cashier experience a plus
