Job Description & How to Apply Below

At Study Groups, we facilitate peer groups for executives in the same industry who want candid insights, trusted relationships, and lasting impact. Our structured, member-led groups offer benchmarking, best practice sharing, and a space for personal and professional growth. With over 700 members and more than 70 active groups, we're growing rapidly and expanding into new industries and strategic partnerships.

About the Role

The Director of Sales and Marketing leads Study Groups' growth engine, overseeing the Sales team, Sales Operations team, Marketing team, and SG Voices team as a single, aligned function. This role owns the strategy and performance of member acquisition, brand and content, and thought-leadership programming, while also driving new strategic partnerships that expand our reach into new industries and membership bases.

The ideal candidate is both a strong people leader and a hands-on operator: comfortable setting strategy and KPIs for four distinct teams, coaching team leads, negotiating external partnerships, and representing Study Groups at industry events. This is a highly visible, executive-level role reporting directly to the President.

Key Responsibilities
  • Directly oversee and manage the Sales team, Sales Operations team, Marketing team, and SG Voices team, ensuring goals, priorities, and messaging stay aligned across all four functions.
  • Manage and develop the team leads for each function, setting KPIs and holding teams accountable to results.
  • Recruit, onboard, and develop talent across sales, sales operations, marketing, and SG Voices as the teams scale.
  • Run regular cross-functional check-ins to keep all four teams working from one shared growth plan.
Strategic Growth & Partnerships
  • Own the overall growth strategy connecting sales, marketing, and SG Voices to the company's membership and revenue goals.
  • Identify, develop, and manage strategic partnerships (industry associations, trade groups, and adjacent organizations) that create new member pipelines.
  • Lead partnership discussions and negotiations, and coordinate the cross-functional work needed to launch them (joint announcements, co-marketing, new peer groups).
  • Represent Study Groups at industry conferences and partner events, including speaking engagements.
  • Ensure the Sales team (Member Engagement Specialists, SDRs) hits customer acquisition and revenue goals.
  • Directly oversee the Sales Operations team, ensuring clean data, strong pipeline hygiene, and effective outreach infrastructure.
  • Refine sales process, messaging, and collateral in close partnership with Marketing.
  • Guide the Director of Marketing on brand strategy, the content calendar, and campaign performance.
  • Ensure marketing collateral and messaging directly support sales prospecting and closing.
  • Oversee the development of joint sales and marketing assets for new partnerships and events.
  • Oversee SG Voices programming, including webinars, articles, education, and vetted partner content.
  • Ensure SG Voices content reinforces the brand and delivers ongoing value to members between group meetings.
Executive & Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Report to the President on growth performance across sales, marketing, and SG Voices.
  • Partner with Operations and Business Intelligence to enrich benchmarking data and member insights.
  • Present growth updates and recommendations in leadership meetings.
Key Qualifications
  • 7+ years of experience in sales and/or marketing leadership, ideally within a membership-based, B2B services, or association environment.
  • Proven track record managing multiple, cross-functional teams (sales, sales operations, marketing, or similar) toward shared goals.
  • Experience developing, negotiating, and launching strategic partnerships.
  • Proficiency with Hub Spot, Just Call, Zoom Info, and Sales Navigator.
  • Excellent executive communication, presentation, and public speaking skills.
  • Data-informed decision-making, with comfort using pipeline, campaign, and benchmarking metrics to guide strategy.
  • Willingness to travel for partner events and industry conferences.
Bonus Points For
  • Experience in the petroleum, convenience retail, construction, solar, or transportation industries.
