Role SummaryThe Packaging Supervisor provides manufacturing front‑line leadership to one or more production lines for the entire packaging process. Responsibilities include motivating and developing front‑line employees, driving teamwork, effective communication, and change, while focusing on safety, quality assurance, process efficiency, continuous improvement, and meeting customer expectations.
Principal Accountabilities- Support General Plant Safety, Food Safety, Food Defense Initiatives and Good Manufacturing Practices as absolutely foremost priorities.
- Ensure all safety procedures are followed and address non‑compliance appropriately.
- Ensure all Food Safety policies and procedures are followed and address non‑compliance appropriately.
- Understand the HACCP Plan and ensure team compliance and education.
- Complete Safety Incident Reports and/or Food Safety Incident Reports before shift end.
- Know the location and operation of emergency STOP and START/STOP buttons and ensure Lock Out/Tag Out procedures for machines are followed.
- Provide business and technical leadership to meet or exceed goals in Safety, Food Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
- Lead as a front‑line leader in a complex food manufacturing facility, providing motivation, training, coaching, and support.
- Work and attend meetings during other shifts (including off‑shifts and weekends) as necessary.
- Establish and sustain positive employee relations through effective communication.
- Promote positive employee and labor relations in a Union environment through effective conflict management.
- Provide effective, timely and fair performance and discipline feedback to team members and document as needed.
- Track daily results to ensure appropriate actions are taken to achieve business goals.
- Enforce compliance and drive accountability with company policies, procedures, and operational standards.
- Develop action plans to reduce unplanned downtime and waste within the bakery.
- Prepare, maintain and finalize all necessary paperwork for the shift.
- Ensure employees maintain a clean work area and clean throughout the shift.
- Coordinate and audit Job Instruction training for team members.
- Conduct shift huddles and provide feedback.
- Train, retrain and cross‑train all team members.
- Confirm readiness of area for next shift and supervisor.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
- Optimize production equipment and processes using continuous improvement solutions.
- Confirm production line(s) are properly shut down, cleaned and reset for next shift.
- Address all maintenance and sanitation needs immediately to ensure effective line operations with minimal waste.
- Work seamlessly with operational counterparts to positively impact key performance indicators.
- Serve as a backup to peer supervisors or Shift Manager when necessary.
- Builds Trust – Interacts with others to give them confidence in intentions.
- Initiates Action – Takes prompt, proactive action to accomplish objectives.
- Adaptability – Maintains effectiveness amid major changes.

- Understanding of sanitation, food handling, and food safety practices in a manufacturing environment.
- Ability to work long shifts of 10 hours or more, including days, nights, and some weekends.
