Interim Principal – Orleans Elementary School (Grades K‑4)

Job DescriptionOrleans Central Supervisory Union (OCSU) seeks an Interim Principal to lead Orleans Elementary School for the 2026‑2027 school year. The role focuses on building relationships, developing a clear vision, and ensuring student growth and high expectations for staff and learners.
Responsibilities- Provide and develop a clear vision of the school that centers on student needs.
- Communicate the vision to the school, parents, and community.
- Model important goals and behaviors that signal values to staff and students.
- Demonstrate a commitment to proficiency‑based and personalized learning.
- Create a climate of high expectations characterized by respect for all.
- Use continuous improvement planning and data to advance the vision.
- Maintain a visible presence throughout the school and visit classrooms regularly.
- Organize, design, and participate in professional development for teachers.
- Leverage resources to provide the best educational opportunities.
- Protect instructional time by maintaining order and discipline.
- Assign staff based on strengths and motivate them through clear expectations and encouragement.
- Provide professional development opportunities aligned with staff needs.
- Remain current in pedagogical trends and instructional materials.
- Use the evaluation process to promote teacher growth.
- Use student assessment data to plan instructional goals.
- Collaborate with the superintendent and school board on hiring, supervision, and evaluation of personnel.
- Administer board policy and participate in administrative initiatives.
- Communicate school matters to the appropriate audience, keeping the superintendent informed.
- Maintain community communication through newsletters, conferences, and special activities.
- Involve teachers in data analysis and instructional planning.
- Meet weekly with faculty to discuss educational and housekeeping issues.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the superintendent.
- Master’s degree with an administrative emphasis.
- Eligible for Vermont Principal Endorsement (3‑91) or currently holds the endorsement.
- Minimum of four (4) years of classroom teaching experience.
- Preferred:
At least five years of relevant experience. - Citizenship, residency, or work visa required.
Salary range starting at $100,000 annually
