Equans is looking for a Mobile Electrician to join our team on the North Lanarkshire Schools contract based in Bellshill, ML4 3NJ
. This is a full‑time role working 40 hours per week. A competitive salary and excellent benefits package are offered.
1pm – 9pm (including on‑call rota). The role requires availability for emergencies and shifts as required.
Responsibilities- Deliver electrical installations, modifications, and repairs within school premises.
- Maintain lighting, small power, distribution boards, containment systems, and related equipment.
- Support emergency lighting, access control, and other critical life‑safety systems.
- Diagnose faults and carry out repairs promptly to minimise disruption.
- Perform reactive tasks and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) according to schedules and contract requirements.
- Record electrical testing, inspections, issue certificates and reports.
- Plan work in coordination with Facilities Manager, Technical Operations Manager, and helpdesk to minimise impact on lessons and events.
- Provide clear, timely updates on job progress, risks, and timelines.
- Liaise with subcontractors and multi‑trade teams for proper job sequencing and quality delivery.
- Respond quickly to emergencies such as power failures and equipment faults within agreed response times.
- Participate in out‑of‑hours call‑out rota – 1 in 9.

- NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in Electrical Installation.
- City & Guilds 18th Edition (BS 7671) qualification or willingness to gain within an agreed timeframe.
- Experience working as an electrician in facilities management, building services or similar sectors.
- Experience in PFI contracts, education sector or multi‑site estates is an advantage.
- Knowledge of school/public‑sector electrical systems, including life‑safety systems.
- Valid CSCS/ECS or equivalent site safety card.
- Understanding of health & safety legislation and permit‑to‑work systems.
- Proficient user of IT systems; experience with CAFM or mobile work management tools.
- Willingness to participate in on‑call rotas, shifts or weekend work as required.
- Full UK driving licence.
