Sarens Siba (Pty) Ltd is seeking an experienced Crane Supervisor to join a Wind Farm Project team. The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising crane operations and equipment crews, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant lifting activities throughout the project. The role includes oversight of crane inspections, equipment deployment, transportation and relocation activities, maintenance planning, operational coordination, workforce supervision, and compliance with company safety procedures and project requirements.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise and coordinate crane operators and equipment crews to ensure safe and efficient daily operations.
- Ensure all personnel, equipment, and resources are deployed on time for each shift and planned work activity.
- Verify that daily crane inspections are completed, documented, and maintained in accordance with company procedures.
- Assign tasks and responsibilities to crew members to support project schedules and operational targets.
- Ensure lifting equipment, tools, tackles, and accessories are properly maintained and have valid certification.
- Coordinate crane rigging, de-rigging, relocation, and transportation activities between site locations and hardstands.
- Monitor crane locations, transportation routes, and site access requirements to support efficient project execution.
- Ensure wind turbine component transportation and installation activities are executed according to project schedules and approved procedures.
- Review crane log sheets and maintain accurate operational and equipment records.
- Assist site management with planning and coordinating lifting and installation activities.
- Arrange and monitor preventive maintenance activities to optimize equipment reliability, performance, and safety.
- Promote compliance with risk assessment processes, reporting systems, and company safety standards, including the reporting of observations, near misses, and incidents.
- Maintain accurate equipment and operational records to support project management and regulatory compliance requirements.
- Valid Trade Qualification, Technical Qualification, or relevant Heavy Lifting/Crane Operations certification.
- Recognized Crane Supervisor, Appointed Person, or Lifting Operations qualification will be advantageous.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in crane operations, heavy lifting, construction, wind energy, renewable energy, industrial, or large infrastructure projects.
- Proven experience supervising crane crews and coordinating complex lifting activities.
- Sound knowledge of lifting operations, rigging practices, crane inspections, and equipment maintenance requirements.
- Familiarity with South African Occupational Health and Safety legislation and industry best practices.
- Strong planning, leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Experience coordinating crane transportation, assembly, disassembly, and relocation activities.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced project environment while maintaining a strong safety focus.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and digital reporting systems.
