Tax Accountant

Description

We are seeking an experienced Tax Accountant. This role involves a variety of tax responsibilities, including preparation and review of tax filings, ensuring compliance with state and local regulations, and contributing to the organization through special projects. The ideal candidate will bring strong expertise in tax accounting and demonstrate a commitment to accuracy and collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

+ Prepare and review federal and state income tax returns for partnerships, LLCs, S corporations, and individual taxpayers.

+ Maintain organized and detailed tax work papers and digital tax return files.

+ Reconcile partner capital accounts and oversee preferred return schedules.

+ Perform complex account reconciliations and process journal entries for tax-related functions.

+ Analyze partnership and operating agreements to ensure correct application of relevant tax provisions.

+ Research and resolve tax issues, implementing practical solutions as needed.

+ Monitor compliance with sales and use tax regulations, Form 1099 reporting, and other business tax filings.

+ Liaise with external service providers to address tax-related matters.

+ Respond to federal and state tax notices through correspondence with tax authorities.

+ Collaborate with accounting and property management teams on special projects.

Requirements - At least 8-10 years of combined experience in tax and financial accounting.

- Bachelor's degree in taxation, accounting, finance, or a related field.

- Certification such as CPA preferred but not mandatory.

- Strong background in partnership tax and accounting within the real estate industry.

- Proficiency in handling partner tax basis adjustments, buyouts, profit/loss allocations, 1031 exchanges, and real estate-related tax matters.

- Familiarity with Lacerte Tax and Yardi accounting software.

- Expertise in individual and corporate tax returns, as well as sales and use tax compliance.

- Ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently and work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
