Position Summary:
The Superintendent is a key field leadership role that is essential to the success and safe execution of construction projects. This position is responsible for overseeing daily jobsite operations, managing and scheduling field personnel, and coordinating construction activities to ensure efficient project delivery.
The Superintendent ensures compliance with all safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements while maintaining the highest standards of quality and workmanship. This role is also responsible for driving field team performance, fostering a culture of accountability, and promoting effective communication among project stakeholders.
Working closely with the Project manager, the Superintendent helps ensure projects are completed safely, on schedule, within budget, and in accordance with CVG’s quality standards and client expectation.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):Project Execution & Operations
- Participate in preconstruction activities, job walks, and project planning meetings.
- Review and maintain a thorough understanding of project plans, specifications, contracts, permits, and scope requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Develop, implement, and manage jobsite logistics plans to support efficient project operations.
- Coordinate and oversee daily construction activities to ensure work progresses safely, efficiently, and according to schedule.
- Develop, maintain, and update the project Master Schedule in collaboration with the Project Manager.
- Generate and distribute weekly look-ahead schedules to subcontractors and project stakeholders.
- Coordinate manpower, equipment, and material needs with project teams and the Warehouse Manager.
- Lead weekly subcontractor coordination meetings to review upcoming work, schedule impacts, safety requirements, and project expectations.
- Attend and actively participate in Owner-Architect-Contractor (OAC) meetings and other project-related meetings.
- Maintain detailed daily reports, photographs, project documentation, and progress updates in our project software.
- Identify and proactively resolve constructability issues, field conflicts, and scheduling challenges.
- Prepare and communicate work order and field change order information to the Project Management team.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable building codes, permit requirements, and inspection processes.
- Establish, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
- Conduct regular jobsite inspections and daily walkthroughs to promote a safe work environment and identify potential risks.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, company safety programs, and public safety requirements.
- Lead by example in fostering a strong culture of safety, accountability, and hazard awareness.
- Monitor and enforce quality standards to ensure all work is completed in accordance with project specifications and company expectations.
- Inspect subcontractor work for quality, accuracy, workmanship, and compliance with project requirements.
- Review subcontractor shop drawings, submittals, and field installations for consistency with project plans and specifications.
- Provide day-to-day leadership and directions to Assistant Superintendents, Carpenters, Laborers, and Interns.
- Clearly communicate expectations, delegate responsibilities, and promote accountability among field team members.
- Mentor, coach, and develop field personnel to support professional growth and operational excellence.
- Foster a positive, collaborative, and solution-oriented work environment.
- Demonstrate strong decision-making, conflict resolution, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced construction environment.
- Build and maintain professional working relationships with owners, architects, consultants, engineers, inspectors, subcontractors, and clients.
