Hardware Lab Technician

Dynamic Bay Area startup is seeking a Hardware Lab Technician to join a highly collaborative engineering team focused on the development and validation of advanced hardware systems. This individual will play a critical role in supporting product testing, troubleshooting, assembly, rework, and validation activities across hardware and embedded systems.

• Set up and run test configurations at the system, component, and firmware level, perform precision soldering and SMT rework, and keep the lab’s test systems and equipment in good working order.
• Experience taking hardware products from prototype through production.
• Strong troubleshooting and diagnostic skills across hardware, systems, and electronic assemblies.
• Experience performing fine-pitch soldering and surface-mount rework on complex PCB assemblies.
• Hands-on experience using common electronics lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, digital multimeter, power supplied, and related instruments.
• Mechanical aptitude with experience assembling, modifying, and repairing hardware systems.
• Working knowledge of Linux-based operating systems.

• 6+ years of hardware lab/electronics technician experience
• Bachelor’s of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
• Experience with precision SMT rework at fine-pitch and BGA level
• Advanced ability to read and interpret schematics
• Proficiency with standard lab equipment, including DMMs, power supplies, and oscilloscopes
• Mechanical aptitude and hands‑on assembly skills
• Knowledge of LinuxOS
• Proven experience taking a hardware product from prototype through production.

• RF test experience with VNAs, noise figure systems, and spectrum analyzers.
• Experience with automated test programming.
• Bash/Python scripting
• Drill presses, mills, 3D printers, hand tools, and various ship equipment familiarity
