Health Care Assistant

Position Summary

The Home Health Care Assistant acts in lieu of family, providing a variety of services to the Sisters of Notre Dame residing at the Belmont Province Center.

Hours: 3:00PM- 11:00PM

• Foster community among the sisters.
• Provide transportation for sisters to MD appointments and log the visit, diagnosis and any medication changes.
• Visit Sisters in the hospital and in rehabilitation settings.
• Assist Sisters with changing linens and assist with weekly laundry for several Sisters.
• Coordinate transportation for family visits, retreats, days of prayer, unit meetings.
• Respond to concerns of Sisters.
• Assist with personal care for Sisters and those temporarily recuperating at the Province Center.
• Make purchases for the sister-residents as needed.
• Provide tray service to those who are temporarily infirm.
• Assist with packing and moving when Sisters need another level of care or pass away.
• Assist with birthday and holiday celebrations.
• Be available for emergencies.
• Assists with kitchen duties (loading the dishwasher, shopping for food, cleanup).
• Maintain confidentiality.

• Compatible with the mission and values of the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur.
• Interest in working with older Sisters.
• Ability to work independently with a high degree of flexibility, time management and reliability.
• Good verbal communication skills; sense of humor.
• Comfortable with driving Sisters to and from appointments and other activities, including at night.
• Computer competency.
• High School Diploma or GED.

• Position requires work in the Belmont Province Center, considerable time on your feet; ability to bend, twist and stretch.
• Capacity to assist Sisters with transportation and (getting into and out of vehicle), able to lift a walker in and out of car.
