TITLE:
Journeyman Carpenter (non-exempt / non-union / on-site)
Reports to:
General Superintendent
Position Summary The Journeyman Carpenter is a skilled tradesperson who can work independently while providing guidance and mentorship to apprentices. This position supports the Jobsite Superintendent in delivering high-quality craftsmanship across all CVG projects, ensuring efficiency, safety, and excellence. The Journeyman Carpenter is expected to follow direction effectively, communicate clearly, and demonstrate a strong commitment to quality, precision, and successful project completion.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):General Responsibilities
- Follow, support, and promote CVG’s safety program and all applicable safety regulations.
- Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) in accordance with company policy and immediately report safety concerns or violations.
- Maintain public safety, including directing traffic when necessary to ensure safety of pedestrians, motorists, and work crews.
- Maintain current and valid certifications including OSHA 10 or OSHA 30, as required.
- Safely operate and maintain a variety of hand tools, power tools, construction equipment, heavy machinery, and company vehicles.
- Load, unload, transport, and properly store construction materials and supplies.
- Assist with jobsite setup and cleanup activities, including demolition and proper disposal of debris and waste materials.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment by storing tools, equipment, and materials appropriately.
- Dig trenches, pits, and foundations in preparation for construction activities and backfill as required.
- Complete assigned tasks in accordance with project schedules and productivity expectations.
- Secure the jobsite at the end of each workday.
- Read and interpret blueprints, drawings, specifications, and project plans with minimal supervision.
- Perform self-performed carpentry work in support of CVG construction projects.
- Fabricate, cut, and install wood framing and structural components.
- Install windows, doors, frames, hardware, and related building materials.
- Repair, maintain, and modify wood structures and components.
- Perform trim, finish carpentry, and detail work to company quality standards.
- Repair and replace acoustic ceiling systems.
- Form, place, finish, patch, and repair concrete as required.
- Perform minor demolition, reframing, drywall installation, and repairs involving both metal studs and wood frame construction.
- Install restroom accessories and other finish construction elements.
- Assist with additional construction-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Previous experience working on commercial and/or residential construction projects.
- Advanced proficiency with industry-standard hand tools and power tools.
- Strong knowledge of construction practices, methods, and procedures.
- OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification preferred.
- CPR and First Aid certification preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to build and maintain positive working relationships with team members, subcontractors, and customers.
- Demonstrated professionalism, ethical behavior, sound judgment, and accountability.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities and effectively manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness and ability to work evenings, weekends, and overtime as business needs require.
- Ability to work independently with limited supervision while contributing effectively as part of a team.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and maintain compliance with the Company’s Auto/Fleet Safety Program, including required insurance coverage.
- Auto Allowance:
Non-accountable stipend for work-related travel beyond normal commute. - Cell Phone Allowance: $50 per month reimbursement for the use of an employee-owned mobile phone.
