Senior Virtual Cloud Engineer

• Lead the virtualization strategy for an Android Automotive OS infotainment ECU
• Build configurable virtual devices on Android Cuttlefish and QEMU that reproduce the production head‑unit software stack and boot sequence
• Define hardware and HAL abstraction, virtio‑backed virtual peripherals, and timing and determinism controls
• Model Automotive Ethernet, SOME/IP, and CAN environments for virtual ECU fidelity
• Lead a Docker‑and Kubernetes‑based cloud platform on AWS or Google Cloud
• Provide on‑demand virtual ECU instances and remote access for distributed teams
• Integrate CI/CD pipelines for automatic deployment of software builds to cloud‑hosted virtual ECUs
• Establish observability, artifact management, and capacity planning for the virtual‑device fleet
• Coordinate Volkswagen Group brands, suppliers, platform providers, and the RV Tech joint venture
• Lead technical discussions and negotiations
• Serve as the principal technical reference for ECU virtualization and cloud delivery
• Mentor engineers and establish best practices
• Enable communication bring‑up, diagnostics, automated test execution, and software validation
• Investigate and contribute to new connected‑system architectures targeted to the US market

Requirements

• 8–10+ years of software, cloud, or virtualization engineering experience
• Deep hands‑on experience building and operating virtual devices on Android Cuttlefish and QEMU
• Experience with crosvm, KVM, virtio, and AVD/Android Emulator
• Background in Android Automotive OS (AAOS) and/or Linux or QNX infotainment software stacks
• Proven cloud engineering at scale using Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS or Google Cloud, and observability
• Working knowledge of Automotive Ethernet/SOME/IP, CAN/CAN‑FD, DoIP/UDS
• Track record leading technical efforts and coordinating across software, cloud, manufacturing, and supplier teams
• Proficiency in C/C++ and Python, with familiarity in Java
• Experience scaling Cuttlefish or QEMU virtual devices across Kubernetes‑based farms with observability tools such as Open Telemetry and ELK/Grafana
• Contributions to AOSP or Cuttlefish, or experience extending QEMU/crosvm device models and ARM/aarch
  64 system emulation
• Security validation within virtual environments, including SecOC and TLS/mTLS
• Familiarity with RV Tech SDV/zonal architecture and Volkswagen Group product requirements
• Familiarity with automotive validation and coverage tooling
• BS in Engineering
• Excellent communication, coordination, and negotiation skills
• Flexibility to accommodate international time‑zone differences
• Ability to travel approximately 10% and regularly visit local development teams and partners
• Must satisfy E‑Verify and pre‑employment substance abuse testing requirements
