Nutrition Technician
The Nutrition Technician supports the Dietitian in providing nutrition services to a broad patient population. This includes helping ensure each patient receives appropriate meals, between-meal nourishments, and any special formulas required to meet their individual needs. This is a patient-facing role with the opportunity to contribute directly to patient care, comfort, and overall wellness through thoughtful nutrition support. The position requires direct interaction with patients as part of the nutrition care process.
Essential Functions:
- Assist the Dietitian in assessing patients' nutritional needs.
- Meet with patients to understand food preferences, allergies, and nutritional status.
- Monitor patient intake through calorie counts, documentation of food consumed, meal rounds, and review of diet restrictions.
- Maintain accurate and timely nutrition-related records to support patient care and departmental processes.
Qualifications:
Education:
High School Diploma or Equivalent required or Associate's Degree Dietetics preferred.
Licenses and Credentials:
Dietetic Technician, Registered [DTR/NDTR] - Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) preferred.
Experience:
Dietetic technician experience with multiple patient populations 1-2 years preferred.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Good communication skills.
- High level of service delivery.
- Attention to detail.
- Computer proficiency.
