Basic

Schedule:

Full-time position; 80 hour bi-weekly schedule; 1st Shift, 8:00 a.m.

- 4:30 p.m.

• The Special Education Teacher is responsible for teaching a group of students with multiple disabilities and providing them with a Class Room environment that will help them reach their maximum potential.
• The Special Education Teacher is a member of the clinical team and an integral professional in the active treatment service delivery process.

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• B.A. or B.S. graduate from an accredited school of education and valid North Carolina teaching license, or eligible to obtain license.

• Experience in educational role with children or adults with developmental disabilities (could be student teaching or internships) preferred.
• Ability to read, write, understand and follow directions
• Proven proficiency in knowledge of developmental sequence and developmental milestones

• Current valid North Carolina teaching license in area of Severe/Profound Handicaps (class A minimal) or other areas of teaching exceptional children and willing to get provisional area in Severe/Profound handicaps and complete educational requirements.
• Valid NC Drivers License

• Qualified Professional or Associate Professional status or eligible to be working towards QP status.
• Supervisory-Staff Training or Management Skills (in field of developmental disabilities preferred)
• Ongoing enhancement training with emphasis on education for persons with developmental disabilities (workshops-conferences-etc.)
