Overview
Little Sprouts Nursery & Preschool is looking for a number of assistant teachers to help in some of our classrooms. We need infant assistant teachers. Full and part‑time positions are available. We need people who are very reliable, hardworking, and a team player.
$500 bonus offered! The Assistant Teacher supports the Teachers and the Director by helping to create a caring and safe environment for the children and assisting in activities to improve the overall care and quality of education. The assistant must be able to communicate, listen, and work well with others in a team environment. Assisting the staff in implementing a quality educational program and developing positive relationships with the children and their parents, the assistant observes and documents children’s interests and progress, and relays that information back to parents and staff.
Assistant teachers are responsible for implementing developmentally appropriate activities based on children’s interests and needs under the direction of the Teacher and the Director. $500 bonus paid in 2 ($250) increments after successful 90‑day probationary period is completed.
- Assist in the implementation of curricula activities and encourage participation by children.
- Actively engage in activities; manage cleanliness, order, and availability of classroom materials.
- Maintain frequent communications with parents through informal discussions and progress reports.
- Encourage self‑help and good hygiene through behavior modeling.
- Help ensure smooth, daily transition from home to child care center.
- Follow all center policies and state regulations.
- Maintain personal professional development plan to ensure continuous quality improvement.

- Ability to work well with others.
- Strong oral and written communication skills and basic computer skills.
- A strong understanding of child development.
- Excellent leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Infant/child CPR and First Aid certification or willing to get.
- Must clear full background check.
- Must pass health screening.
This position requires that candidates have completed high school, or equivalency, and be 18 years or older. Candidates must also have completed the certificates for Introduction to the Childcare Profession as well as Skills and Strategies for the Childcare Profession, or the equivalent coursework. These courses will be reimbursed after the probationary period has been completed. Preference may be given to candidates who have previously worked in licensed childcare.
