Reports To: Parish Pastor, in collaboration with two Parochial Vicars
Employment Status: Full-Time (includes some evenings and weekends)

The Director of Faith Formation provides leadership for the planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive parish faith formation and youth ministry programs at Queen of Martyrs Parish. Serving a diverse, bilingual, and bicultural Catholic community, this position advances the Church’s mission of evangelization and lifelong catechesis in fidelity to the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church and in accordance with the policies and pastoral priorities of the Diocese of Madison.
The Director collaborates closely with the Parish Pastor and two Parochial Vicars, parish staff, volunteers, and diocesan offices to ensure effective, welcoming, and mission-driven formation for children, youth, and adults.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provide vision and leadership for parish faith formation and youth ministry in alignment with diocesan guidelines and parish pastoral priorities.
- Plan, coordinate, and develop all parish faith formation programs, including:
- Elementary, middle school, and high school catechesis
- Sacramental preparation
- Develop and implement programs that intentionally serve and integrate the bilingual and bicultural life of the parish community.
- Work collaboratively with the Parish Pastor and two Parochial Vicars in pastoral planning, program evaluation, and ministry development.
- Recruit, train, support, and supervise catechists and volunteers in accordance with diocesan standards and safe-environment policies.
- Provide pastoral presence at weekend liturgies, youth events, and major parish activities as appropriate.
- Maintain regular, clear, and culturally responsive communication with parents, parishioners, catechists, and volunteers in English and Spanish.
- Participate in parish staff meetings; collaborate with other parish ministries.
- Prepare content for parish communications, including bulletins, newsletters, and digital platforms.
- Develop, manage, and monitor the faith formation budget in collaboration with parish leadership.
- Participate in diocesan trainings, meetings, and required formation opportunities.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Parish Pastor.
- Bachelor’s degree in education, Religious Education, Roman Catholic Theology, or a related field required. Master’s degree preferred in the above areas or ability to obtain.
- Catechetical Leadership Certification required or the ability to obtain certification within a specified period, in accordance with diocesan policy.
- Master’s degree in religious education, Evangelization & Catechesis, Theology, or Scripture Studies required or the ability to obtain.
- Demonstrated experience working with youth, families, and volunteers in a parish setting preferred.
- Practicing Roman Catholic in good standing, with a strong prayer life and an evident desire to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ and the Church.
- Commitment to the mission of evangelization and lifelong catechesis as articulated by the Church and the Diocese of Madison.
- Demonstrated ability to serve effectively within a bilingual and bicultural parish context.
- Strong organizational, administrative, and leadership skills; ability to manage multiple priorities responsibly.
- Ability to engage in crucial and pastoral conversations with clarity, charity, and professionalism.
- Teachable spirit; openness to feedback, supervision, and collaborative ministry.
- Ability to maintain a healthy balance between personal life and ministerial responsibilities, modeling sustainable ministry.
- Desire for ongoing personal, spiritual, and professional growth, including participation in retreats, conferences, and diocesan formation opportunities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency in English and Spanish required.
- Competence with technology, digital communication tools, and social media for ministry and evangelization.
- Willingness to comply with all Diocese of Madison policies, including safe-environment requirements.
- Ability to teach and lead Catechetical lessons for children, teens, and adults.
