Summary of Job
The City of Beloit has an exciting employment opportunity as a MPO Coordinator. This position operates under the Planning and Building Services Division of the Community Development Department.
The MPO Coordinator is primarily responsible for conducting the federally mandated 3-C (continuing, cooperative and comprehensive) regional transportation planning process for the Stateline Area Transportation Study (SLATS), which is the federally designated Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) for the Beloit, Wisconsin-Illinois urban area. This includes all professional, technical and administrative functions of SLATS. This position provides staff support to the SLATS Technical Advisory Committee (TAC) and SLATS Policy Board, is responsible for public information and stakeholder outreach, is the liaison with local, state, and federal agencies as well as appointed and elected officials, transit operators and the public, and is responsible for maintaining a forum for collaborative transportation planning and decision-making.
The MPO Coordinator assists in the implementation of transportation plans, serves as the point of contact for SLATS activities, assures compliance with federal transportation planning and other applicable regulations and ensures that customer service is delivered in an effective and efficient manner.
Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
1. A valid driver's license and satisfactory driving record.
2. Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College/University with major course work in Urban and Regional Planning, Engineering or similar field of study.
3. A minimum of 4 (four) years of professional transportation planning experience is required.
4. Supervisory experience is preferred.
5. Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position may also be considered.
