Project Engineer I​/II

The City of Beloit has one opening and is seeking to hire an engineering professional for a position in the Engineering Division of the Department of Public Works. The individual hired may be hired as a Project Engineer I or Project Engineer II depending upon the qualifications of the successful candidate.

This position is responsible for the planning, design, construction, inspection, and preparation of plans and specifications for a variety of public works projects. Requires considerable judgment, initiative, and professional knowledge and responsibility for making technical decisions on engineering problems and plans.

• full salary range for Project Engineer I: $100,594

• full salary range for Project Engineer II: $123,761

• A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record or the ability to meet the transportation requirements of the position.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related field.
• Experience in the design and construction of civil engineering and public works projects.
• An Engineer in Training (EIT) certification registered in the state of Wisconsin or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.

• A valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record or the ability to meet the transportation requirements of the position.
• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in civil engineering or a closely related field.
• A minimum of four years of experience in the design and construction of civil engineering, stormwater and public works projects.
• A Professional Engineer (PE) license registered in the state of Wisconsin or the ability to obtain within 6 months of hire.
• Other combinations of training and/or experience which can be demonstrated to result in the possession of the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the duties of this position will also be considered.
