The Student Ultrasonographer is responsible for assessments, procedures and care for the patient with medical uses of ultrasonography under supervision of an ARDMS sonographer.
- Performs patient assessments, review symptoms and explains procedure to be performed to the patient under the supervision of an ARDMS sonographer.
- Provides comfort measures during testing.
- Ensures proper documentation of exam and procedure and maintains accurate patient records.
- Recognizes various pathological states and knows how to alter the exam to make an appropriate diagnosis.
- Reports abnormalities to the supervising sonographer.
- Ability to set up and operate equipment and transducers appropriately.
- Reviews all images with an ARDMS sonographer prior to submission to the Radiologist for interpretation and prior to the patient being discharged.
- Demonstrates the ability to perform functions accurately and efficiently with computer software application appropriate to position.
- Second year student in an accredited School of Medical Sonography and has passed physics board exam.
- Must be CPR certified within three months of hire.
- Requires ability to work independently and to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
- Ability to interpret, adapt and apply proper procedure to Beloit Memorial Hospital policies.
- Must adhere to established hospital and medical imaging department policies, rules and regulations.
- Maintain ethical conduct and keep confidential personal and medical information about patients.
- Receives and follows oral and written instructions from physicians under supervision of ARDMS sonographer.
