Beloit Health System at Memorial Hospital is hiring an Emergency Department Technician to our Emergency Department team.
- Shift: 1/2 varied & 3rd shift
- Schedule: 12 hour shift, varied start times
- Hours per week: 36 hours per week

The Emergency Department Technician assists the professional nursing staff or other healthcare professionals in performance of a variety of patient care duties, supply ordering, stocking of treatment rooms and unit cleaning - all to complement the practice of nursing and Emergency Physicians. The Emergency Department Technician will assist with basic patient care, duties of a CNA, lab draws, EKG, BAT/UDS, IVs, ortho supplies, and wound care.
The Emergency Department Technician:- Applies specialty knowledge to patient care situations such as ability to perform straight catheterization, collect specimens, splint application, suture set-up, instruction on crutch walking, eye irrigations with saline, perform EKGs, and draw blood.
- Assists with wound care and dressings.
- Transports patients and completed charting as appropriate.
- Participates in QA monitoring such as monthly chart audits.
- Strictly adheres to infection control policies including body substance isolation, blood borne pathogen precautions and aseptic techniques.
- Performs unit specific duties according to established policies and procedures.
- Collecting and recording of data-intakes and outputs, vital signs (including orthostatics), weights, as well as any interventions, procedures, and/or observations.
- Maintains patient privacy and strict confidentiality.
- Reports any changes in patient condition or unusual occurrences to RN.
- Ensures patient safety while handling and transporting patients.
- Protect patients from various hazards, falls, disease exposure, and injury.
- Performs hourly rounding and uses whiteboards evident by monthly self-audits.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Successful completion of EMT-basic course, completion of CNA program, or equivalent military experience with current EMT-B or CNA certification, or Student Nurse in senior year of nursing program.
- Requires working sometimes irregular hours.
- Requires excellent verbal and written communications skills.
- Two years' clinical experience preferred.
- Must be CPR certified within 3 months of hire.
- Ability to work independently and to react calmly and effectively in emergency situation.
- Must complete phlebotomy training.
- Must complete occupational health training for post-accidents.
