What You’ll Do:

The Shipping Lead oversees daily shipping operations to ensure a safe, organized, and efficient flow of materials and finished goods. This role supervises shipping staff, coordinates paperwork and truck scheduling, ensures accuracy with bills of lading and packing slips, and collaborates with management and manufacturing teams to deliver high-quality products to customers. Some specifics of the position include responsibilities where you will be expected to:

  • Examine shipment contents timely and verify accuracy.
  • Record shipment data with 98% accuracy (such as weight, charges, space availability, damages, or discrepancies) for reporting, accounting, and recordkeeping purposes.
  • Daily prepare documents (such as work orders, bills of lading, or shipping orders) to route materials.
  • Confer or correspond with establishment representatives promptly to rectify problems, such as damage, shortages, or nonconformance to specifications to determine corrective actions that will best serve the mission of the organization.
  • Pack, seal, label, or affix postage to prepare materials for shipping, using hand tools, power tools, or postage meter.
  • Contact carrier representatives to arrange or to issue instructions for shipping and delivery of materials.
  • Deliver or route materials to departments using hand truck, forklift or sorting bins while ensuring all safety standards are met.
  • Requisition and store shipping materials and supplies to maintain weekly inventory of stock.
  • Determine shipping methods, routes, or rates for materials to be shipped.
  • Research and compare the most cost-efficient methods and routes while still ensuring the integrity of the organization and the least environmental impact.
  • Coordinate truck scheduling with Plant Manager and APM of Finance or their designee.
  • Supervise staff to ensure standards are being met and resolve personnel problems.
  • Responsible for staff development.
  • Keep records of incoming and outgoing paperwork and any action required.
  • Oversee the conduct of daily forklift and hand tool maintenance checks. Request maintenance and retraining as needed to ensure equipment is running properly, safe, and is being used in a safe manner.
  • Safely and efficiently create a work environment that enables an efficient flow of materials and products into and out of the facility. Responsible for performing all work tasks in a safe manner and in accordance with organizational safety policies and requesting maintenance as needed.
  • Required to be a team player and collaborate with various departments to meet customer satisfaction.
  • Responsible for creating, maintaining, and enforcing shipping procedures and policies to ensure a safe and efficient department and environment.
What We’re Looking For
  • HS Diploma or equivalent –
    mandatory
  • Forklift certification –
    mandatory
  • Valid Driver’s License - preferred
  • Previous experience in shipping and receiving.
  • Familiarity with shipping documentation such as bills of lading, packing slips, and shipping orders.
  • Use of ERP systems, Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook).

  • Demonstrated attention to detail, inventory tracking, and working in a manufacturing or logistics environment.
  • Strong communication skills and experience collaborating with internal and external customers as well as Logistics Companies.
