Overview
The CNC/Laser Programmer position is responsible for providing programming, set up and machining expertise in support of daily production and prototype.
Key Responsibilities- Programs the laser equipment using nesting software
- Updates routings for changes made to machined component as well as new components
- Identifies new process steps to flatten/shorten route steps and BOM requirements
- Determines routings based on engineering drawings and specifications
- Evaluates engineering drawings with engineering software
- Programs and nests laser parts using nest software
- Explores and develops new approaches and processes to increase quality and productivity in the machine shop
- Analyzes blueprints to calculate correct part dimensions for tool selection, machine speeds, and feed rates
- Ensures that the proper tooling/fixtures are ordered and available for production
- Makes mechanical and/or program adjustments to ensure parts meet quantity and quality requirements
- Suggests and collaborates on design improvements or alternative methods for manager and/or design engineers
- Notifies supervisor of any quality concerns or delays
- Verifies accuracy of engineering information for manufacturing
- Remains flexible to shift task based on manufacturing needs
- Works within deadlines to ensure timely deliveries
- Problem solves and communicates effectively with the work team
- Contributes ideas for continuous improvement of workflow and processes
- Follows all safety guidelines and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
- High school diploma or equivalent
- AutoCAD/Inventor experience is a plus
- Experience with CAD/CAM
- Hands‑on experience and knowledge of machining, fabricating, welding, and finishing of metals
- Vessel or trailer design experience is a plus
- Interpersonal, leadership, and technical skills
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency in Word, Excel, Outlook
- Ability to manage multiple tasks
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
