About the role

We are seeking a Product Development Scientist to support new product development (NPD) initiatives from concept through commercialization. This role will partner closely with customers and internal teams to develop innovative food and beverage solutions while ensuring technical excellence, safety, and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities

New Product Development (NPD)

* Develop, test, and scale up food and beverage prototypes from laboratory to full-scale manufacturing

* Translate concepts into commercially viable products

Customer Collaboration

* Engage directly with customers to understand needs and technical requirements

* Present product concepts and provide application support

* Troubleshoot formulation and application challenges

Laboratory & Pilot Plant Work

* Conduct analytical testing and experimental trials

* Operate within R&D labs and pilot plant environments

* Ensure adherence to safety protocols and best practices

Technical Support

* Support commercial teams with technical documentation and reporting

* Ensure products meet quality, regulatory, and food safety standards

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

* Stay current with industry trends, ingredients, and technologies

* Contribute to innovative solutions that provide competitive advantage

Qualifications and skills

* Associate or Bachelor's degree (2-4-year degree) in Food Science or related field

(or equivalent industry experience)

* Experience in food or beverage product development, applications, or manufacturing

* Strong problem-solving and communication skills

* Ability to work cross-functionally with commercial and technical teams

* Exposure to pilot plant or scale-up environments

Experience working directly with customers

Knowledge of regulatory and food safety requirements.

The pay range for this position is $47,900 - $89,000 in Annual Salary. Kerry typically does not hire an individual at the top or near the top of the range, as we are a pay-for-performance company, and this range is set to continue to reward performance annually while in role. Compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.

The specific compensation offered to a candidate within the above range may be influenced by a variety of factors including skills, qualifications, experience, and internal equity.
