Quality Technician
The Quality Technician maintains quality standards through in-process and final inspections, documentation, and support of continuous improvement across production.
ResponsibilitiesAudit in-process production at defined hold points to verify that work meets established quality standards.
Inspect finished products by confirming specifications against blueprints and engineering documentation.
Perform visual and dimensional inspections using measurement tools such as micrometers, calipers, and other gauges.
Conduct mechanical, physical, and visual inspections of raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies before use in production.
Inspect reworked products to confirm that non-conformances have been fully corrected.
Reject defective parts and clearly mark the type and location of defects on the part, container, or inspection tag.
Initiate non-conformance reports and material rejection notices as required, ensuring accurate and complete documentation.
Coordinate the return of unacceptable materials to suppliers or appropriate internal departments.
Interpret engineering drawings, diagrams, and blueprints to determine inspection criteria and quality requirements.
Collaborate with engineering and leadership to clarify quality and reliability standards and resolve quality issues.
Maintain and administer the calibration program for inspection and measurement equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Perform internal quality audits to verify adherence to procedures, standards, and regulatory requirements.
Inspect finished products for overall quality, appearance, and compliance with customer and regulatory specifications.
Support continuous improvement by identifying recurring quality issues and recommending corrective and preventive actions.
Adhere to all applicable DOT, FDA, TTMA, and 3-A guidelines as required by level and training.
Support compliance with vehicle, brake, and registered inspector requirements as applicable under 49 CFR regulations.
1–2 years of inspection experience in a manufacturing environment for Level 1 roles.
2–3 years of inspection experience in the manufacturing and/or service of specification cargo tanks and/or trailers for Level 3 roles.
High school diploma or GED.
Ability to pass a visual test and an Ishihara color vision test.
Hands- on experience as a quality technician for at least 2 years.
Proficiency in quality inspection, quality control, and quality assurance practices.
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings.
Experience performing visual inspections on fabricated products and weldments.
Skill in using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools.
Experience inspecting fabricated components and assemblies.
Ability to perform accurate mechanical, physical, and visual inspections of raw materials, components, and sub-assemblies.
Knowledge of DOT guidelines relevant to cargo tanks and related equipment.
Ability to document inspection results clearly and accurately, including non-conformance reports.
Comfort working in a manufacturing environment with stainless steel fabrication and pressure vessels.
Skills & Qualifications
Experience in the manufacturing and/or service of pressure vessels or cargo tanks.
Associate’s degree or bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related field.
Knowledge of DOT, FDA, TTMA, and 3-A guidelines, depending on level.
Ability to meet or obtain Vehicle Inspector requirements per 49 CFR §396.19.
Ability to meet or obtain Brake Inspector requirements per 49 CFR §396.25.
Ability to meet or obtain Registered Inspector requirements per 49 CFR §180.409.
Experience with coordinate measuring machines (CMM) or similar advanced inspection tools.
Familiarity with inspection and quality documentation in a regulated manufacturing environment.
Interest in cross-training in other departments, including welding and fabrication.
Willingness to pursue additional certifications and training supported by the company.
This is a Permanent position based out of Beloit, WI.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $52000.00 - $72800.00/yr.
