Position SummaryThe Drafter / Detailer is responsible for producing accurate models, drawings, and documentation to support manufacturing and production. This role focuses on drafting execution, detailing, and maintaining established standards.
The ideal candidate works from defined specifications, instructions, sketches, and existing designs to create clear, complete, and production‑ready deliverables for fabrication and installation.
- Produce detailed 3D models, shop drawings, fabrication drawings, finish schedules, bills of material, and cut lists using Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Create manufacturing‑ready documentation for custom fabricated components and assemblies.
- Maintain drawings, files, and folder structures in accordance with company standards.
- Accurately update and revise drawings based on redlines, engineering changes, and production feedback.
- Work from written and verbal instructions, sketches, marked‑up drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, shop foremen, and fabrication personnel throughout the project lifecycle.
- Apply knowledge of manufacturing methods, fabrication practices, tooling requirements, and installation considerations.
- Ensure drawings contain the required level of detail for fabrication, assembly, and field installation.
- Verify dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, and fabrication requirements.
- Assist with project documentation and drawing organization.
- Support continuous improvement of drafting standards and drawing processes.

- Machine guarding and safety solutions
- Platforms, ladders, and access systems
- Specialty trim and custom fabricated components
- Proficiency with Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD.
- Ability to interpret fabrication drawings, specifications, and sketches.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Understanding of manufacturing and fabrication processes.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Experience with sheet metal design, detailing, and fabrication drawings.
- Experience with mechanical piping design and piping system layouts.
- Experience creating fabrication drawings and shop packages.
- Familiarity with industrial ventilation systems, dust collection systems, or bulk material handling equipment.
- Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and installation practices.
- Experience working in a manufacturing, fabrication, or industrial contracting environment.
Preferred Software
Experience:
Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, Revit, and other Autodesk design products.
- Associate degree in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, Manufacturing Technology, or a related field preferred.
- Technical/trade school certification in CAD Drafting, Mechanical Design, or a related discipline preferred.
- Equivalent work experience may be substituted for formal education.
- 2+ years of drafting/detailing experience preferred.
Experience in sheet metal design/detailing or mechanical piping design is preferred. Candidates with experience in either discipline are encouraged to apply.
