Plasma Center Nurse - LPN

Job Description

The role is a Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) who reports to the Plasma Center Manager and supports plasma center operations. Responsibilities include donor eligibility assessment, managing adverse events, reviewing laboratory results, and communicating unsuitable test results. The specialist operates under the guidance of the Center Manager and the Center Physician, and adheres to regulatory and safety guidelines set by Bio Life Medical Affairs.

• Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, self‑exclusion procedures, medical history interview, acceptance requirements, physical examination, blood testing, and review of Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
• Evaluate donor reactions in accordance with standard operating procedures.
• Follow SOPs for medical emergencies and coordinate donor transport to emergency care facilities.
• Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs regarding unacceptable findings or medical/technical issues.
• Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
• Manage employee incidents and assess the need for further evaluation by occupational health or emergency responders, following Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) guidance.
• Act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS and assist with investigations of pandemic threats.

• High school diploma or equivalent, with graduate equivalent of a recognized nursing program and state licensure requirements.
• Licensed or certified as an LPN or LVN in the state of assignment.
• Current CPR and AED certification.
• Fulfillment of state IV therapy requirements.
• Completion of FDA‑approved training for the Bio Life Medical Support Specialist.
• At least two years of clinical or hospital experience.
