Primary
Purpose:
Provide instructional leadership in order to ensure students learn the essential academic knowledge and skills and grow in the Journey of a Graduate competencies. Responsible for establishing and implementing a shared vision and culture of high expectations for students and staff. Identify focus for campus improvement, inspire/lead change effectively, and create a purposeful community engaged in actions toward the achievement of the District vision.
Provide leadership for effective and efficient operational processes and systems aligned with District values and beliefs. Establish strong partnerships with stakeholders in support of exceptional learning experiences for each and every student.
Education/Certification:
- Master’s Degree in educational administration or curriculum and instruction
- Texas principal or other appropriate Texas certificate
- Texas teaching certificate
- Certified Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T‑TESS) appraiser
Special Knowledge &
Skills:
- Working knowledge of curriculum, instructional design, and assessment best practices
- Ability to effectively lead change
- Ability to evaluate instructional program and teaching effectiveness
- Ability to align actions and behaviors to District values and beliefs
- Ability to ensure effective instructional design maximizes student growth
- Ability to manage budget and personnel
- Ability to coordinate campus functions
- Ability to implement policy and procedures
- Ability to interpret data and identify areas of focus for improvement
- Ability to organize and communicate using a variety of mediums
- Ability to build strong stakeholder relationships
Experience:
- Three (3) years experience as a classroom teacher
- Experience as a secondary assistant or associate principal
- Demonstrated experience with instructional leadership roles
- Experience as lead principal of a large, comprehensive high school preferred
