Mechanical Designer

ECS Environmental Solutions, a market leader in odor and air pollution control systems, is seeking a mechanical designer. This individual is responsible for creating, editing, and finalizing plans for odor and air pollution control systems. These projects will include 3D modeling of systems, fluid piping, and air conveyance ductwork, field layouts, sections, and details.

Primary

Responsibilities include:

• Interface with the design team to create and manage drawing packages of system designs, including but not limited to Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), 3D models, and system interface drawings.
• Produce complex technical drawings including P&IDs, process flow diagrams, and pipe routing drawings.
• Produce general arrangement drawings for mechanical air filtration systems.
• Create 3D models of instruments and components from outside vendors ensuring fit and functionality are maintained.
• Prepare bill of materials from 3D models.
• Thoroughly learn and understand existing processes and equipment to address ongoing technical challenges and identify improvement opportunities.
• Maintain organization within the drawing database.
• Research relevant component and technical related resources in support of project objectives.
• Apply internal best practices along with applicable industry standards, e.g., ANSI, ASTM, ASME.

• B.S. in Engineering or Engineering Technology; 3 to 5 years related experience.

• 3+ Years of CAD with design software, including assembly and drawing design. Incorporating fit, form, and functionality of designs.
• 3+ Years of Solidworks and Routing application, familiar with PDM tools.
• Experience in a job shop (custom manufacturing) environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills required.
• Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with other departments required.
• Accuracy and attention to detail.
• Strong ability to manage and complete projects under tight deadlines.
• An eagerness to learn and overcome challenges.
• Positive attitude and open, respectful communication.
• Strong knowledge of ductwork, HVAC systems, air filtration systems, water filtration systems, exhaust systems and plumbing design.
• Experience with HVAC and air exhaust system design.
• Able to write or speak technical instructions.
