We are currently hiring an Enrichment Specialist for our day program for people with mild to moderate dementia. The program operates Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm at our Belton, Texas location. The Dementia Enrichment Center does NOT provide residential or overnight care, provide personal care assistance (help with ADLs), or offer health care. Hours for this position will vary. Applicants MUST be available to work 15-30 hours/week, any shift Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Provides support, guidance, assistance, and leadership to promote and stimulate participation of program participants
- Implements proven strategies for communication, behavior management, and engagement with people with dementia
- Provides a welcoming and friendly environment to program participants, caregivers, visitors, and co-workers
- Participates in special events and weekly outings
- Follows daily plans to deliver enrichment activities
- Serves meals, drinks, and snacks to participants
- Ensures supplies, equipment, and facility are organized and secure
- Ensures DEC policies, procedures, and safety guidelines are followed
- Performs other duties as assigned
- Minimum 60 credit hours of college-level studies
- Desire to work with adults living with dementia
- Ability to lead and manage groups of adults with varying levels of cognitive needs
- Ability to accurately follow daily plans, activity instructions, and verbal and written directions
- Demonstrated maturity and professionalism
- Self-starter with effective problem solving and decision-making skills
- Reliable
- Team attitude (We are a No Drama workplace.)
- 1 year relative paid, volunteer, or lived experience
- Experience working with people living with dementia or similar condition
- CPR/First Aid certification
