Custodian

Custodian – Bell County, Central Texas.

$16.88/hr – $17.91/hr

• Clean the interior of county buildings, including vacuuming floors, cleaning bathrooms, emptying trash cans, cleaning office and conference rooms, mopping floors, washing windows, cleaning jail cells, doors, and walls.
• Operate various equipment and machinery such as buffers, vacuum cleaners, and cleaning supplies and chemicals.
• Perform tasks to maintain floors – sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, cleaning carpets, buffing, waxing, etc.
• Empty garbage and trash containers regularly; keep containers clean and sanitary. Maintain cleanliness of walls, windows, and furniture by washing, dusting, waxing, or buffing.
• Maintain restrooms in a clean and sanitary manner to promote hygiene; replace soap, toilet paper, paper towels, etc. as necessary.
• Communicate verbal and written information with supervisor and the public to provide assistance, receive instructions, exchange information, and complete daily job‑related activities.
• Utilize tools and equipment – brooms, mops, cleaners, buffers, keys, disinfectants, insecticides, vacuums, carpet cleaners, scrubbers, etc.
• Perform related work as required.

High school diploma or GED equivalent with six (6) months of custodial or maintenance duties experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

• Perform light to medium work that involves walking or standing virtually all the time and exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular basis; skill, adeptness, and speed in using the fingers, hands, or limbs on repetitive operation of mechanical or electronic office or shop machines or tools within moderate tolerances or limits of accuracy.

• None.

• Valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history.
• Ability to read, write, and speak English.
