Position Overview

The HOP is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Community Engagement Intern to support our marketing, outreach, and communications efforts. This role is perfect for a college student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business who enjoys interacting with the public, representing a mission-driven organization, and bringing creative ideas to life.

The Community Engagement Intern will play a key role in helping us connect with riders and the community at large through events, social media, and outreach initiatives. This position offers hands‑on experience in community relations, marketing, and public engagement within the public transit industry.

Responsibilities
  • Set up, work, and tear down community and campus event booths (including tents and tables as needed)
  • Represent The HOP at public events, engaging with attendees and promoting awareness of our services
  • Collect and document engagement data, including number of attendees, common questions, feedback, and popular promotional items
  • Provide post‑event reports and summaries to the Marketing Director
  • Support the creation of social media content and other marketing materials
  • Assist with various marketing, communications, and outreach projects as needed
  • Serve as an ambassador for the brand and spread enthusiasm for public transportation
Requirements
  • Current college student pursuing a degree in Marketing, Communications, or Business
  • Access to a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
  • Ability to lift boxes and set up event materials (tents, tables, banners, etc.)
  • Positive, outgoing personality and strong communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and responsibly when needed
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to document engagement activities accurately
  • Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Drive, Canva, and social media platforms
Work Schedule & Compensation
  • Paid internship up to $15/hour (based on experience)
  • Part‑time
    , up to 15 hours per week (depending on the season and event schedule)
  • Some evening and weekend availability required for community events
  • Hybrid position: based at our Belton, TX office with fieldwork assignments
