Outside Sales and Construction Manager located in northern Illinois in Boone or McHenry county.
Under the general direction of the Regional Vice President, the Outside Sales Manager partners with each customer to understand the customer’s specific needs and then designs a proposal to meet or exceed the needs. Involved from start to finish in the customer’s building experience, ensuring a high quality, profitable build and a great customer experience. This can include marketing, design, sales, management of the building process, completion of project, collecting payment and turning over the keys to the customer.
Duties/ResponsibilitiesThe following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all‑inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.
- Generate new customer leads through personal marketing in conjunction with support from the corporate office marketing team.
- Schedule and conduct meetings with potential customers to evaluate their initial needs, desires and vision, while highlighting the benefits of building "The Walters Way".
- As the liaison between the customer and the corporate office, disseminate the customer vision to the sales support specialist and the engineering team to collaboratively develop the ‘Building Project Proposal’.
- Present the Building Project Proposal to the customer, communicate all contractual aspects of the project, execute the customer contract and collect customer down payment.
- Oversee the construction process and the warranty program. Provide project management to include plan reading, project scheduling, coordination of suppliers and/or subcontractors, ensure customer satisfaction with the final project, and collect final payment.
- Maintain complete and accurate records of all offers to purchase and contractual paperwork between the customer, the company and subcontractors.
- Complete ongoing training to ensure understanding and proper application of sales and project management methods/techniques, as well as safety and construction procedures, methods, and standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Strong customer service, consultative sales, and conflict resolutions skills.
- Must be results driven and self-motivated.
- Ability to maintain customer confidentiality.
- Strong mathematical skills, including the proven ability to properly and accurately take, document, and aggregate measurements.
- Regular travel to project/customer locations.
- Regular exposure to driving conditions, construction sites, variable year-round weather conditions.
- Perform work in an office setting occasionally.
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
- Postsecondary education in business, communication or construction management or related field preferred.
- 5 years of construction, sales or related field.
- Technical knowledge and/or experience in the construction industry.
Along with a robust benefits package, Walters Buildings also provides Outside Sales and Construction Managers with a company vehicle, laptop and cell phone. Compensation includes a base salary and commission which is paid on 'closed volume' on personal sales.
