District Performing Arts Center Manager

Work Schedule: 8 hours a day / 11 months

Salary: $48,000.00 / salary; commensurate with experience

Reports to: Chief of Information Officer or designee

Qualifications
  • Proven record of prior experience in theatre facilities management in a school or comparable setting.
  • Demonstrable ability to organize, multitask, coordinate, manage budgets, and schedule relevant activities in an effective manner.
  • Prior experience with a variety of aspects of theatre arts and related topics.
  • Ability to understand the technical aspects of theatre and facility operations.

Supervision: This position has no supervisory responsibility for district employees, only student workers.

Terms of Employment: ESP Employee Group - Eleven (11) months

Daily schedule will maintain an eight (8) hour work day, flexible with start and end times approved by supervisor. Hours may include weekends and will vary weekly.

Basic Function

Coordinate the maintenance and scheduling of events and technical assistance tasks required in the usage of the Performing Arts Center. The District Performing Arts Center Manager works closely with Central Office administration, district faculty and staff, student crews, and the community in order to prepare and execute successful events.

Key Performance Responsibilities Production Management
  • Coordinate and manage all technical and logistical aspects of productions, including lighting, sound, set design, and stage operations.
  • Create and maintain production schedules and call times for rehearsals and performances.
  • Act as the primary liaison between directors, performers, technical crew, and administration.
Technical Oversight
  • Operate and maintain technical equipment, including lighting boards, sound systems, and rigging.
  • Supervise the setup and teardown of sets, props, and equipment for productions and events.
  • Conduct regular inspections of theatre facilities and equipment to ensure safety and functionality.
Student and Staff Supervision
  • Train and supervise students and staff involved in technical and backstage operations.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive environment for student learning and engagement in performing arts.
  • Mentor students in technical theatre skills and professional practices.
Event Coordination
  • Oversee the scheduling and coordination of events in the theatre, including performances, assemblies, and external rentals.
  • Ensure compliance with school policies and regulations during events.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support multidisciplinary events.
  • Duties performed as part of this role are compensated through the position and are not eligible for additional performance stipends.
  • Coordinate and oversee live streaming and recording of District events and performances through district-approved streaming channels, ensuring quality production and adherence to District guidelines.
Safety and Compliance
  • Enforce safety protocols for all theatre-related activities, including proper handling of equipment and materials.
  • Maintain accurate records of equipment inspections, maintenance, and inventory.
  • Ensure compliance with fire and building codes and school policies.
Administrative Duties
  • Manage budgets and expenses for productions and theatre operations.
  • Procure necessary supplies and materials for productions and facilities.
  • Provide coordination for other District-level events, such as graduations, promotions, concerts, and other District community events.
  • Maintain communication with vendors, contractors, and community partners as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Chief Information Officer or other administration, if necessary.

Evaluation: Performance of the job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy of evaluation of Professional Personnel.
