Responsible for producing a high volume of good quality consumer and real estate loans. Also responsible for ordering credit reports, analyzing data, approving or denying credit requests and collecting delinquent loans.

• Conduct interviews with prospective borrowers to analyze financial and credit data, determine customer financing objectives, advise customers of product and pricing policies, and gather any additional required information.
• Provide detailed follow‑up with borrowers and meet with applicants as necessary during various stages of the loan process.
• Work closely with mortgage processors and branch staff to ensure customer satisfaction and trust in the bank.
• Establish and maintain relationships with branch personnel, realtors, builders and developers as lending sources for referrals.
• Have an understanding of all First Mid products and services and a strong commitment to cross‑sell those products and services in a professional manner.
• Conduct loan closings, ensuring all documents are signed and all underwriting conditions are met, and taking all necessary steps to perfect the bank’s lien position.
• Disburse funds on construction and home‑improvement loans in accordance with bank guidelines.
• Manage and oversee individual loan portfolio and maintain asset quality.
• Develop and maintain the existing customer base, building customer satisfaction and confidence in the bank.
• Register as a Mortgage Loan Originator in compliance with the SAFE Act.
• Complete required training associated with the job function.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
• MLOs are expected to be accessible to clients and referral partners outside of standard business hours, including evenings and weekends, as necessary.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration (preferred), or advanced training equivalent to two or more years in a financial institution or loan setting.

• Good understanding and knowledge of company products and services.
• Strong cross‑selling, management, and organizational skills.
• High level of interpersonal skills to interact with customers and potential customers in a professional manner.
• Adequate knowledge of internal policies and procedures, and the state and federal laws and regulations governing departmental functions, ensuring performance of individual job duties within the proper control environment.

$40,000 per year
