Responsible for the accurate and timely fulfillment of picking/pulling product from the warehouse shelves, sorting items, and making sure all products on the order request are ready to be packed. Order pickers are also responsible for ensuring all products on the order request are free from damage, verified, and counted for packaging.
Duties & Responsibilities Order Picker I- Verify the quantity and product being picked is accurate.
- Use RF handheld barcode scanner to process product while picking.
- Sort, consolidate, and drop off products to assigned packing stations for packaging.
- Ensure quality control standards and practices are occurring (recording errors, inspecting parts for damage, correct shortages, wrong parts, and using QC Forms).
- Meet and exceed daily productivity and quality standards.
- Record daily productivity on progress control boards per Lean philosophy.
- Operate an order picker, standup reach truck, and fork truck to pick product from various storage racking.
- Must be willing to be cross‑trained in other areas in the warehouse as needed.
- Must perform within the company safety program and policies.
- Complete daily equipment checks and log into assigned equipment.
- Follow instructions from the order scheduler and ensure parts are picked accurately.
- Ensure correct part numbers and quantities are picked and transferred to the packing station.
- Maintain a high level of accuracy with minimal errors.
- Work under close supervision, seeking assistance when needed.
- Meet daily pick rate or productivity targets.
- Mentor the picking team to ensure daily targets and orders are completed efficiently.
- Resolve any picking discrepancies or inventory issues and elevate when necessary.
- Ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Monitor equipment maintenance and ensure all equipment is in working order.
- Provide feedback and coaching to lower-level employees.
- Optimize picking strategies to reduce errors and improve overall productivity.
- Coordinate with other departments (packing, inventory, shipping) for smooth order fulfillment.
- Previous experience with a barcode scanning system/handheld preferred.
- Forklift certification preferred (order picker, reach truck) must be able to pass the forklift certification test.
- Must be a self‑starter, motivated and focused to work independently within the established perimeters assigned.
- Ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively.
- Some computer skills and basic math skills needed.
- Must be able to work with others and as a team.
- Attention to detail and organizational skills needed.
- Learn lean philosophy within the organization to focus on and participate in continuous improvement & learning to improve processes, efficiencies and increased profitability.
- 0-1 year of experience in warehouse, inventory, or logistics roles.
- Some exposure to order picking or warehouse management systems is a plus.
- Comfortable using basic warehouse equipment (e.g., pallet jack, scanners).
- 2-4 years of experience in warehouse order picking, inventory, or fulfillment roles.
- Experience with batch picking or managing multiple orders at once.
- Comfortable working with order pick lists and barcode scanners.
- Ability to work without supervision while maintaining productivity.
- Basic understanding of warehouse operations and order picking.
- Familiarity with inventory systems (e.g., VMU or similar) to log in equipment.
