Paul Bunyan Communications has an opening for a full-time Staff Accountant reporting to the Bemidji, MN office!

We are seeking a detail-oriented and motivated accounting professional to join our team. This role is responsible for supporting day-to-day accounting operations and ensuring accuracy in financial reporting. The ideal candidate will be extremely organized, possess great time management skills, and demonstrate strong critical and analytical thinking abilities.

Reports To:

Accounting Manager

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and maintain general ledger entries and account reconciliations
  • Assist with month-end, quarter-end, and year-end processes
  • Prepare various state and local tax and regulatory reports
  • Support and oversee the accounts payable process including purchase orders, work orders, and inventory
  • Assist with fixed asset management
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and accounting standards
  • Maintain accurate and organized financial records
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and efficiencies
  • Performs other duties as assigned by the Accounting Manager and/or CFO.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
    • An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be substituted for stated education requirements.
  • 5+ years of accounting experience
  • Strong understanding of GAAP principles
  • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to think critically and solve problems effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • Related industry experience
  • CPA or CPA candidate
