A REAL will be required beginning May 7, 2025, in accordance with 6 C.F.R. 37.5 (2021).
DutiesIncumbent will be responsible for collaborating with American Indian Tribes to increase and maintain access to water, wastewater, and solid waste facilities by:
- Performing planning, design, and construction oversight activities for community and individual water supply, wastewater, and solid waste facilities.
- Visiting tribal communities where projects are being planned and constructed.
- Reviewing work prepared by technical staff.
- Estimating costs and materials necessary to construct sanitation facilities.
- Preparing engineering reports.
Conditions of employment include:

- Must have a valid State driver's license and it must be REAL

Background Investigation
:
This position requires successful completion of a federal background investigation as a condition of employment. Applicants must complete required forms within five calendar days of issuance. Timely completion is critical to avoid delays.

-compliant.
To qualify, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education to perform the duties of the position. Experience includes paid and unpaid work, including volunteer service. You must clearly identify duties and responsibilities and hours per week for each position.
BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
- Degree:
Engineering. Program must lead to a bachelor’s degree in engineering with ABET accreditation, or a combination of education and experience that demonstrates the necessary engineering knowledge and capabilities. - Professional registration or licensure (EI/EIT/PE) or related credentials may apply as described.
- Other pathways include successful completion of required academic courses or related curricula with demonstrated professional engineering experience.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Your resume must show at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in the Federal service, performing responsibilities such as preparing engineering reports, ensuring proper procedures and standards, and visiting construction worksites. Alternatively, options include: a bachelor’s degree with Superior Academic Achievement; currently enrolled in an ABET-certified program and expected to complete within 9 months with Superior Academic Achievement;
completed at least one year of graduate-level engineering education; or specific combinations of education and experience as described in the original posting.
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement. This position may be covered by a Bargaining Unit. Promotions potential up to GS-09; not guaranteed.
