Application Engineering Specialist – Industrial Adhesives and Tapes Division
This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. The role will drive new applications utilizing 3M adhesive and tape products, provide technical support, engage with customers and internal teams, and partner on dispensing and automation projects.
Responsibilities- Drive core and new adhesives and tape products to win new bonding applications in the industrial marketplace.
- Develop new application solutions aligned to customer needs.
- Build a deep understanding of state‑of‑the‑art technologies in adhesive and tape dispensing and automation.
- Train customers, sales representatives, and international colleagues.
- Create new application demonstration tools.
- Collaborate with product development, product engineering, marketing, and field sales.
Required
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in a science or engineering discipline, completed and verified prior to start.
- Minimum five (5) years of laboratory experience in a private, public, government or military environment.
Preferred
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Polymer Science.
- Five (5) years of experience working with tapes and/or adhesives.
- At least two (2) years of experience in application engineering.
- Experience with adhesive and tape dispensing equipment and/or automation.
- Strong problem‑solving or troubleshooting skills.
This role follows an on‑site working model, requiring the employee to work at least four days a week at the 3M Center in Maplewood, MN.
Travel and RelocationTravel may include up to 25% domestic. Relocation assistance is not authorized.
Compensation and BenefitsExpected compensation range $145,676 – $178,049, which includes base pay plus variable incentive pay if eligible. Benefits include medical, dental, vision, health savings accounts, flexible spending accounts, disability and life insurance, voluntary benefits, paid absences, and retirement benefits.
Export ControlResponsibilities of this position may include direct and/or indirect physical or logical access to information, systems, and technologies subject to U.S. Export Control Laws. 3M will assess U.S. person status for eligibility to share export‑controlled technical data.
