This position supervises and administers utility, entrance, advertising device control programs for District Two to ensure that permitted work performed by others in the state highway right-of-way meets applicable statutes, standards and policies.
The Minnesota Department of Transportation does not sponsor applicants for work visas or Optional Practical Training Extensions for STEM students. Individuals must be legally authorized to work in the US at the start of employment.
Minimum Qualifications
Three (3) years para-engineering experience (at the Transportation Specialist level or equivalent) that demonstrates:
- Knowledge of MnDOT's construction, material, soil, design, hydraulic, survey and planning processes
- Knowledge of MN State Statutes sufficient to evaluate encroachments on the right-of-way
- Knowledge of Utility policy and construction sufficient to inspect utility permits
- Knowledge of highway and structures construction plans, right-of-way mapping and land descriptions sufficient to determine in place right-of-way regarding encroachments and permits.
- This position requires a minimum of a valid Class D Driver's License.
Preferred Qualifications
- Working knowledge of MnDOT Utility Permits & MnDOT Access Management Policy.
- Working knowledge of Outdoor Advertising Act Permits
- Knowledge of Construction practices, materials and procedures sufficient to conduct inspection of contractor's work related to entrances and turn lanes and to identify improper work methods and materials usage
- Experience providing lead work, supervising a staff, or managing large project(s).
