Assess the severity of addiction and related issues that may help or hinder recovery

Plan and provide treatment and continuous assessment through individual treatment, therapy groups, and case management
Document and maintain treatment records, including assessments, summaries, progress notes, and discharge summaries
Serve as a primary source of education to other team members regarding chemical dependency and health
Collaborate with treatment providers, primary care providers, and legal officials in treatment planning and patient support when needed
Use referral sources and community resources to support treatment
Perform work duties within the scope of individual competence and licensure
May provide adolescent assessment and treatment to patients aged 13 and older
- Bachelor’s degree required
- In Minnesota, must have one of the following:
Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) or Alcohol and Drug Counselor
- Trainee (ADC-T) - Requires completion of 40 hours of continuing education every two years, including diversity and ethics
- Completion of annual/bi-annual mandatory trainings
- Basic Life Support (BLS) training and certification within six months of hire
- May provide adolescent assessment and treatment to patients aged 13 and older; additional qualifications required to treat adolescents
Demonstrates expertise in addiction assessment, individualized treatment planning, and delivering effective interventions. Proficient in documentation and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to support patient recovery and education.
