Job Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatrics position in a rural Northern Minnesota acute care hospital, requiring a minimum of 2 years of pediatric RN experience and an active MN RN license.
Responsibilities- Acute care inpatient pediatric unit with 6 pediatric beds
- General med surg pediatric patient population with occasional intermediate-level acuity patients; no PICU on site
- Typical admissions include respiratory distress, IV antibiotics, constipation, appendicitis, and gastroenteritis
- Nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:4 for general med surg peds and 1:2-3 for more acute patients
- Department encompasses Pediatrics, Special Care Nursery, Gynecology, Postpartum, and L&D
- May be asked to serve as a second nurse in the Special Care Nursery or take well babies in Postpartum as needed
- Charting via Epic (required); also uses Omnicell and Philips monitors
- 12-hour rotating day/night shifts with every 3rd weekend required; straight nights may be considered
- Floating to other departments such as Med Surg, Telemetry, and ICU may be required
- 13-week contract
- Provides general inpatient med surg pediatric care with occasional intermediate-level acuity patients
- Traveler may at times be the only pediatric nurse scheduled for a shift but will not work alone — support comes from the broader department team
- Orientation consists of 2 shifts to the department
- Navy scrubs required; fun/printed tops are permitted
- This position serves a large rural area in Northern Minnesota
- Candidates with a permanent address within 80 miles of the facility are eligible to apply but may be subject to a reduced travel pay rate
- Previous employment at any Sanford Health location must be disclosed
- Active MN RN license required
- Minimum 2 years of pediatric RN experience required
- BLS (AHA) and PALS (AHA) required; NRP preferred
- Two professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor in the specialty within the last 3 years
- All certifications must be active and in hand at time of consideration; no pending certifications accepted
- Epic EMR experience preferred
