Job Description
American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Labor and Delivery for a travel nursing job in Bemidji, Minnesota.
Assignment Overview- Shift: Rotating, 3x12hrs
- Hours:
36 hrs/wk - Start Date:
Jun 15, 2026 - Length: 13 weeks
- Openings: 4
- Acute care hospital setting within an OB/L&D unit (Unit Type: Obstetrics)
- Patient population includes postpartum, stable antepartum, newborns, GYN, med‑surg overflow, and SCN patients
- Nurse-to-patient ratios follow AWHONN standards: 1:3 mom/baby couplets, 1:5 GYN/med‑surg patients, 1:3–4 pediatrics
- Average census includes approximately 5 couplets, 2 pediatrics, 1 GYN, 2 labor, and 4 SCN patients
- Support staff includes a ward clerk (0700–1900), CNA (Tue–Thu), Charge Nurse/Circulator, Resource Nurse, and LPN Scrub Nurse — all without patient assignments
- EMR:
Epic (One Chart); other equipment includes Omnicell, Philips Vitals Machines, Bladder Scanner, Medela Breast Pumps, Responder 5 Call Light System, and Medfusion Pumps - 12-hour day/night rotating shifts with every 3rd weekend required
- Floating required as needed, primarily as helping hands, with occasional med‑surg patient assignments
- 13-week contract
- Active MN RN license required; temporary or pending MN license may be considered depending on start date timeline
- Minimum 2 years of OB/L&D experience required, including postpartum
- Active BLS (AHA) required
- Active ACLS (AHA) required
- Active NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification required
- PALS certification preferred but not required
- Epic EMR experience required; other EMR experience will be considered
- Ability to work in both Labor and Delivery and Postpartum settings
- Willingness and ability to float to med‑surg and telemetry as needed
- Two current professional references required: one from a supervisor within the last 12 months of relevant experience, and one from a peer or supervisor in the same specialty within the last 3 years
- All certifications must be active at time of consideration; no pending certifications accepted
- Active RN license must be verified and in good standing at time of consideration
- Responsibilities include caring for postpartum, stable antepartum, newborn, GYN, and med‑surg overflow patients; secondary RN role in SCN; circulating experience in L&D is a plus
- Equipment and unit orientation provided on the first day (approximately 8 hours)
- Scrub color required:
Navy Blue - All clinicians must badge in and out at the facility
- Candidates who have previously worked at any Sanford Health location must have an end date at least 6 months prior to their application date
- Candidates residing within 80 miles of the facility are considered local and may be subject to a reduced pay rate
- Trauma Level 3 facility
