Position works with both the Cardiac Care Unit and Intensive Care Unit.
Job SummaryManages day‑to‑day operations for nursing staff and activities for an assigned unit, including patient care, record keeping, and personnel issues. Implements the organization’s mission, vision, policies, goals, and objectives within the unit. Oversees and assists with scheduling nursing staff to shifts, considering utilization trends. Balances department and unit needs with patient care priorities. May fill in for clinical support staff when staffing gaps exist.
Develops trusting relationships with patients through empathy and professionalism. Participates in task forces, committees, staff meetings, and applies departmental initiatives, organizational strategies, and performance improvement policies. Provides feedback for budget planning and staff performance evaluation.
Ensures hiring, selection, retention, and talent development practices meet unit goals. Trains new staff, develops existing staff, and coaches others. Supports compliance with laws and regulations. Maintains current specialty certifications and, as needed, tracks staff certifications.
QualificationsBachelor’s degree in nursing required. Graduate from a nationally accredited nursing program preferred (CCNE, ACEN, NLN CNEA). For Rural Health Network facilities, employees hired after January 2025 without a bachelor’s degree may pursue an educational plan toward a nursing bachelor’s degree within five years of hire, subject to approval. Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience preferred, two years of management/leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge of the nursing practice act, standards of nursing care, and administrative/mgmt techniques required. Holds an unencumbered RN license and/or multistate licensure in NLC. Obtains required department competencies and certifications;
Basic Life Support (BLS) required within 60 days.
