Registered Nurse – Orthopedics Team

Sanford Health is seeking a compassionate and motivated Registered Nurse (RN) to join our dynamic orthopedics team. As an RN in our clinic, you will play a crucial role in supporting our healthcare professionals and ensuring patients receive the best possible care.

Work shift:

8 hours – day shifts (United States of America)

• Scheduled weekly hours: 40

• Salary range: $32,000 – $48,000 per year

• Union position:
No

• Call rotation required

• Assist the operating surgeon with intra‑operative homeostasis, exposure, closure, and medication administration.
• Perform skin closure under direction when validated by the surgeon and independent observation is not required.
• Develop specialized pre‑operative plans in coordination with surgeons and other health team members.
• Assist the surgical technician in preparing and maintaining surgical tools and equipment, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations.
• Help drape patients and maintain a sterile field during surgery.
• Function under the surgeon’s direction during intra‑operative and clinical practice settings.
• Apply knowledge of surgical anatomy, operative technique, asepsis, and infection control; recognize safety hazards and initiate corrective actions.
• Perform additional duties delegated by the surgeon in collaboration with local and state policy.
• Operate within the scopes and standards of nursing practice as outlined in state law.

• Preferred: graduation from a nationally accredited nursing program (e.g., CCNE, ACEN, or NLN CNEA) and a bachelor’s degree in nursing.
• Registered Nurse (RN) experience preferred.
• Completion of a surgical assisting program or on‑the‑job training.
• Unencumbered RN license with the state board of nursing where practice occurs; multistate licensure acceptable if in a Nurse Licensure Compact state.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
• Certification as a Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) by the Competency and Credentialing Institute or as an Orthopaedic Nurse (ONC) within one year of meeting eligibility; maintenance of certification is required for employment.
