Status: Full Time (salaried, exempt) 40 hours per week.
Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday‑Friday. Work outside of these hours may be required.

The Controller is responsible for the day‑to‑day management and integrity of the organization’s accounting operations, including financial close, financial reporting, internal controls, and audit coordination. This is a hands‑on leadership role that requires both direct execution and team development. The Controller will manage an accounting team, ensure accurate and timely financial statements, and maintain strong internal controls and cash management practices.
Working closely with the CFO, this role will also support budgeting, regulatory reporting (including Medicare CAP and cost reports), and help modernize finance and accounting processes.
Essential Functions General- Lead and execute the monthly financial close process, ensuring timely and accurate financial statements.
- Maintain the general ledger and oversee all core accounting functions, including accounts payable, payroll, cash, and accruals.
- Review journal entries, account reconciliations, and supporting schedules.
- Supervise, support, and develop accounting and payroll staff, providing coaching, training, and daily oversight.
- Serve as a hands‑on resource to the team, stepping into detailed accounting work as needed.
- Partner with the Revenue Cycle Manager to ensure alignment between billing activity and financial reporting.
- Support CFO in creating monthly & ad hoc financial reporting, budgets, forecasts, and other analysis as needed.
- Lead the annual financial audit, including preparation of schedules, coordinating requests and responding to auditor inquiries.
- Maintain and strengthen internal controls to ensure accuracy, compliance, and protection of organizational assets.
- Ensure accounting practices are consistent with GAAP and nonprofit standards.
- Oversee daily cash management, including monitoring balances, forecasting short‑term cash needs, and managing banking activity.
- Review and approve disbursements and ensure appropriate cash controls in place.
- Support and, over time, lead the preparation of regulatory reporting, including Medicare CAP calculations and cost reports (training provided by CFO).
- Assist with external reporting requirements and ensure accuracy and completeness of submissions.
- Review financial statements and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Maintain clear audit trails and documentation to support all financial activity.
- Assist in producing internal reports and analysis to support organizational decision‑making.
Supervisory Responsibility: This position has supervisory responsibilities over Payroll and Accounting staff.
Position Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, or equivalent work experience required.
- 7–10 years of progressive accounting experience required.
- Prior supervisory experience required.
