About the Role:We're looking for a Payment Operations Specialist to help ensure our customers' payments are processed accurately, on time, and with an exceptional customer experience.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving problems, talking with customers, and taking ownership. You'll work closely with customers, banks, technology partners, and our internal product and engineering teams to investigate payment issues, answer questions, and keep payments moving.
This isn't a traditional "clock in, clock out" operations role. While we value work-life balance, payment operations occasionally requires responding to time-sensitive issues outside normal business hours. We don't expect someone to be available 24/7—we do expect someone who understands the importance of ownership and takes pride in seeing issues through to resolution.
What You'll Do:- Process and monitor customer payments across multiple payment methods.
- Respond to customer questions by phone and email.
- Investigate and resolve payment exceptions and operational issues.
- Work directly with banks, suppliers, ERP partners, and payment providers.
- Monitor payment files and ensure timely processing.
- Prepare operational and payment reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve processes and automate manual work.
- Work closely with Product and Engineering to troubleshoot issues and improve the customer experience.
- Help support operational issues when they occasionally arise outside normal business hours.
- 3+ years of experience in payments, banking, fintech, accounting, treasury, accounts payable, or payment operations.
- Comfortable talking with customers and building confidence during operational issues.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Strong attention to detail and follow-through.
- Naturally curious and enjoys solving problems.
- Able to prioritize multiple tasks in a fast-moving environment.
- Comfortable learning new technology and operational platforms.
- Startup experience is a plus but not required.
