Position Summary

The Childcare Manager is responsible for the overall operation, leadership, and compliance of the Mt. Bachelor Childcare facility. This role ensures safe, high‑quality care for children while managing staffing, budgeting, programming, and regulatory requirements. The Manager serves as the licensed Director of the facility with the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care and exercises independent judgment and discretion in all areas of facility management.

Primary

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily operations of the childcare facility, ensuring safety, compliance, and quality care.
  • Ensure compliance with Mt. Bachelor policies, DELC rules, and all federal, state, and county regulations.
  • Maintain required records, forms, and compliance documentation.
  • Establish and enforce departmental standards and safety procedures.
  • Oversee laundry, food service presentation, and sanitation compliance.
  • Participate in Safety Committee communications and ensure safety standards are upheld.
  • Serve as the licensed Director of Record with the Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC), maintaining all required certifications and credentials.
  • Manage the state license renewal process, including documentation submission, staff ratio records, inspection readiness, and corrective actions.
  • Ensure all staff meet DELC training and background check requirements, including C  compliance.
  • Hire, train, supervise, evaluate, discipline, and terminate staff as needed in alignment with policies.
  • Develop staff schedules ensuring proper child‑to‑staff ratios and coverage at all times.
  • Provide ongoing professional development and attend at least one development program annually.
  • Coordinate curriculum–based activities, develop operational plans, training manuals, and childcare program materials.
  • Coordinate with SRS to support partnership ski programs.
  • Develop and manage annual budgets, including purchasing and resource allocation.
  • Monitor daily staffing, supplies, operations, and facility needs.
  • Deposit and track departmental revenue and records.
  • Coordinate meal programs with the Executive Chef and collaborate with Sales & Marketing on childcare information and reservations.
  • Maintain communication with parents regarding daily childcare activities.
  • Assist with resort‑wide operations during peak periods or in response to operational needs.
  • Attend required resort manager meetings, leadership trainings, and company‑mandated gatherings.
  • Participate in resort‑wide events, seasonal celebrations, and community‑facing activities that support the Mt. Bachelor guest experience and team culture.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
  • Supervise up to 25 employees, including Childcare Supervisors, Teachers, and Aides.
  • Develop, maintain, and enforce staff schedules and child‑to‑staff ratios.
  • Lead onboarding, initial training, and ongoing professional development for all childcare staff.
  • Conduct formal performance evaluations and disciplinary actions in alignment with company policy.
  • Coordinate wage and salary actions with the Director of Mountain Sports.
  • Collaborate daily with Food & Beverage, Sales & Marketing, Human Resources, and the Ski & Ride School.
Specific

Job Skills
  • Must meet Oregon Department of Early Learning and Care (DELC) licensing requirements for a childcare director role.
  • Oregon Early Learning and Child Care (OLEC) Teacher Certification required.
  • Active C  number or ability to obtain one prior to starting.
