Job Description & How to Apply Below

KTVZ News is searching for the next leader of Central Oregon's most trusted weather team.

This is an exceptionally rare opportunity for an experienced broadcast meteorologist to step into one of the most respected weather brands in the Pacific Northwest.

For decades, viewers across Central Oregon have relied on KTVZ News and the Local Alert Weather Team to keep them informed through every season.

We're looking for a Chief Meteorologist who understands that responsibility and is excited to lead a team committed to serving our communities every day.

This is a high-profile leadership role that works alongside the newsroom while helping shape weather coverage across broadcast, digital, streaming, and social media platforms.

We're looking for someone with exceptional forecasting skills, a distinctive and authentic on‑air presence, and a passion for connecting with viewers.

The ideal candidate embraces innovation, values collaboration, and recognizes that today's weather coverage extends far beyond the evening newscast.

As Chief Meteorologist, you'll lead by example both on and off camera.

You'll mentor and develop the Local Alert Weather Team, provide constructive and actionable feedback, and foster a culture built on collaboration, accountability, and continuous growth.

Working closely with the News Director, you'll help define the vision for weather coverage while ensuring our forecasts remain accurate, consistent, and engaging across every platform and every shift.

Qualified candidates should have a bachelor's degree in meteorology or atmospheric sciences and at least five years of broadcast meteorology experience, including demonstrated leadership and mentoring experience.

Strong forecasting abilities, excellent communication skills, and the ability to perform confidently under pressure are essential.

Experience creating content across television, digital, and social platforms is expected.

If you're an experienced meteorologist who is passionate about forecasting, committed to community service, and ready to lead one of the region's most trusted weather teams, we encourage you to apply.

Opportunities like this don't come along often, and we're excited to find the next leader of the Local Alert Weather Team at KTVZ News.

Candidate must be able to pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen. This position is a full-time position that is eligible for a full array of benefits which can be viewed through our benefits hub located at (Use the "Apply for this Job" box below). News Press Benefits  .
