Job Description & How to Apply Below
Hands-on product designer to lead cross-brand design for Old Man Mountain (OMM) and Robert Axle Project (RAP), owning full product design cycles for hard and soft goods.
Responsibilities- Lead end-to-end product design for new hard goods (metal, plastic, carbon) and soft goods (sewn and welded fabrics, accessories) from design brief through prototyping, technical and production-ready drawings, manufacturing handoff, and QC documentation.
- Apply knowledge of sewn and welded textiles, metal alloys, structured plastics, and hardware to select materials and integrate components for high-quality products.
- Plan, create, and iterate physical prototypes and samples using in-house and external resources.
- Build and maintain a product drawing library and design file organization, including detailed CAD models, tech packs, and engineering drawings for overseas manufacturers.
- Maintain a consistent design language by integrating branding, CMF, and graphics to reinforce brand identity.
- Collaborate with the Product Development Manager and contract engineers to test and iterate products to established standards, including in-house and field testing of prototypes and samples.
- Contribute to product strategy discussions by identifying gaps, opportunities for improvement, and ideas for new categories.
- 3 to 5 years of product design experience with a portfolio showing products taken through manufacturing and market introduction, not just concept work.
- Experience in the cycling and outdoor industry, either professionally or personally.
- Strong hard-goods capabilities: familiarity with aluminum alloys, steel, and structural plastics; understanding how design choices impact tooling cost and lead times; experience with machining, forging, casting, welding, and injection molding.
- Solid soft-goods expertise: knowledge of seam types, stitch specifications, technical fabrics (including welded constructions), closures, and hardware; ability to write complete tech packs from scratch.
- Proficiency in Solid Works (preferred) or Fusion 360 with the ability to produce engineering drawings with proper tolerances.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite for tech packs, graphic callouts, and presentations.
- Understanding of design-for-manufacturability principles and how design decisions affect tooling, cost of goods, and lead times.
- Experience with rapid prototyping across multiple methods and strong written and verbal communication for briefing overseas factories on CMF and design decisions, plus clean tech packs.

- 100% company paid medical and vision insurance
- Paid vacation and sick leave
- Eight paid holidays
- Matching 401k plan and profit sharing

- Salary: USD 72,000 per year
