School of Nursing Undergraduate Faculty – Bend, OR

Position reports to Bridgette Bochner and requires teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service. Eligibility ranges from Lecturer to Professor depending on credentials.

Required Qualifications
  • Lecturer: BSN.
  • Instructor: MSN or equivalent.
  • Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor:
    PhD/DNP or equivalent.
  • Oregon RN license.
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Documented competency in teaching through experience, educational preparation, or CE.
Responsibilities
  • Didactic Teaching:
    • Provide effective classroom instruction based on teaching assignments, using appropriate instructional technologies.
    • Participate collaboratively in development, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum.
  • Clinical Teaching:
    • Plan, supervise, and deliver effective clinical instruction in laboratory, simulation, and real‑world healthcare settings, ensuring students apply theoretical knowledge to practice.
  • Student Mentorship and Supervision:
    • Mentor and advise students across academic and professional development areas.
    • Faculty in the doctoral program supervise students in dissertation and/or clinical inquiry projects.
  • Scholarly

    Activities:

    • Participate in scholarly activities based on faculty rank.
    • At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, demonstrate competence in a clinical expertise area and engage in inquiry and scholarship that contributes to the science of clinical practice.
    • At the Assistant Professor rank or higher, advance a program of research, prepare grants and seek funding, and engage with other missions to foster inquiry within the SON.
  • Service

    Activities:

    • Committee membership and other campus activities as assigned.
    • Participate in faculty governance; additional strategic initiatives based on rank.
  • Administrative

    Activities:

    • As negotiated.
  • Other

    Activities:

    • Provide services as assigned by the supervisor in furtherance of the university's missions and goals of teaching, research, patient care, outreach, and public service.
